Johanna Byrne studied singing at the Royal Northern College of Music and The National Opera Studio as a Peter Moores Scholar. In her career, she has been active as a performer, a vocal coach, a choir leader and a vocal consultant to choirs. She has also taught singing for many years. Johanna is deeply committed to developing musicianship and an understanding of how music works in young musicians, believing this holistic approach transforms playing and performing. She is a firm advocate of the Kodaly Musicianship approach.

She is co-director of the London based performance group ‘Insieme’, for whom she has produced and performed a range of recitals, concerts and workshops,  She has devised and directed a number of community/education performances in Ireland, Shetland and the U.K. She recently completed an MA with distinction on the songs of Clara Schumann, at the University of Birmingham. She very much enjoys being part of Lauderdale Suzuki Group.
